Data Processing Assistant
About Next Sense
We help buildings perform better. Next Sense combines AI agents, structured building data and expert oversight in one continuous optimization loop, the Building Intelligence Center (BIC), to improve the energy performance, comfort and space use of commercial real estate. We work with owners, occupiers, and operators such as Microsoft or Amazon, with 220+ buildings connected across more than 20 countries.
We are a small, fun, Amsterdam-based team, B Corp and ISO 27001 certified, driven by three values: change the perspective, trust and earn trust, and a passion to deliver.
The role
Every building that we onboard starts as a pile of floor plans, meter lists and building system data. Your job is to turn that pile into clean, structured data that our platform can use. You will join our Implementation Team and work on the digital foundation of each building: CAD floor plans, spaces, meters and sensors, mapped accurately and in a consistent structure.
This is hands-on, but it is not only support. You will help us find the bottlenecks in our onboarding process and automate them, and you will co-create our automation roadmap with the implementation leads.
What you will do
Process and clean CAD floor plans (for example in AutoCAD or Revit) so that spaces, floors and zones can be used in a building's digital twin.
Build and maintain features and AI skills that automate repetitive extraction and preparation steps.
Map building data, such as meters, sensors, spaces and building system datapoints, to our data structure, using AI tools such as Claude to speed up the work.
Validate every output, including AI-assisted mapping, against the source documents and flag gaps or inconsistencies to the implementation team.
Document your workflows so the rest of the team can reuse them and suggest improvements to how we deliver.
What we are looking for
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
General understanding of visual coding plugins such as Grasshopper (or Dynamo).
Knowledge of building technology and systems, for example HVAC, electrical and metering, and how floor plans relate to what is installed.
An organized, process-oriented way of working, with the attention to detail that data mapping demands.
The ability to learn tools and processes quickly, and to come up with solutions rather than wait for them.
Full proficiency in written and spoken English (C1).
Nice to have: Proficiency in using AI tools such as Claude Code for data mapping and data processing, including knowing when not to trust the output.
Nice to have: programming language skills like Python and experience with building management systems (BMS).
Practical requirements
You are currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program at a Dutch university, available for 6 to 12 months at 16 hours per week and living in the Netherlands.
What we offer
A role that matters: your work goes directly into the tools and processes we use to connect buildings worldwide.
A young and ambitious company with major international clients, working at the forefront of real estate innovation.
Lunch included.
A zero-hours contract at minimum wage, with 8% holiday allowance and travel cost reimbursement.
